We’re very excited here at Seanchaí Towers to be going to the flicks this evening to watch the film adaptation of Colm Toíbíns ‘Brooklyn‘. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2009 Costa Novel award winning book, named by The Observer as one of the “The 10 best historical novels”. Brooklyn follows the journey of Ellis Lacey a young Irish immigrant in the 1950’s across the ocean to America from her small town. It is “Hauntingly beautiful and heartbreaking”.
We’ll let you know what we think. Check out the Guardian’s ‘film of the week’ review for yourself.
